What if you expanded your social network?
The goal of this exercise is to try a new and deliberate strategy to expand your professional network. Choose a day when you travel from home to school/work or vice versa. If you work from home, choose a day when you can have a walk downtown.
For 15 minutes, look carefully at the buildings you pass. What do you notice? What names of companies do you see that you haven’t seen before? Write them down.
When you are back home, choose three company names that appeal to you. Check their websites. Who is the team behind it? Who are the professionals whose work experiences you’d like to know more about?
Write below why you would be interested in the experiences of these persons. What would you expect to hear?Whether you reach out to any of these three people and invite them for a chat is up to you—but since you’re doing this course, maybe you have a good reason to!
